Make Your Mark results
Category : Democracy
A few weeks ago, the UK Youth Parliament Make Your Mark results for Lambeth came in.
The top three (in order) were:
- Votes at 16 – Give 16 and 17-year-olds the right to vote in all elections/referendums)
- Tackling racism and religious discrimination – All young people should work together to combat racism and other forms of discrimination, and ensure we know the dangers of such hatred.
- A Curriculum to prepare us for life – Schools should cover topics including finance, sex and relationships and politics in the curriculum.
The national picture was slightly different with a curriculum for life coming top. Followed by tackling racism in second place and transport in third.
Our initial thoughts on the Lambeth results are that they were likely influenced by the EU referendum result and Lambeth’s valued history as a cultural melting pot.
This Friday (10 November), Krystelle, will be joining her UK Youth Parliament colleagues from across the nation to take the MPs seats in the House Commons. The Speaker is hosting a debate on these and other topics.
